Examples of Bios

Personal. Professional. Relevant. Readable. And sometimes fun.
NEW SEARCH

In addition to the bios of various clients (samples below) and their employees, I've written or polished profiles for many of the staff and contributors at EdgeStudio.com. And of course there's my own bio.

My thinking on profiles and biographies is that, above all, they should be relevant to the reader and express the professional personality of the subject. Often that includes their personal personality. But I try to find something relevant. That they live in Connecticut with a spouse, two kids and a dog means they're human, but isn't so distinctive, and is seldom relevant to the reader's interests. What in the subject's personal experience demonstrates their approach to what they do, or is a truly amusing irony, or otherwise makes them seem worth knowing better?

The bio should also be consistent with the tone and style of the publication or website, and its format and length should be consistent with other profiles there. If you just need me to tidy up your existing bios or drafts for those reasons, I proudly do that, too.

David Goldberg

A leading authority on voiceover, and Chief Edge Officer of Edge Studio, David Goldberg has cast and directed thousands of voiceover productions. He has also coached innumerable voice actors, from beginners to top working pros and celebrities.

David says, "Although I don't have a golden voice, I guess my ears work pretty well."

Indeed. David's ears are considered the best in the industry.

He's known for an uncanny ability to provide super-quick yet precise direction. Because he sees things from all industry perspectives, many veteran voice actors rely on him as their mentor. David is also an active director and speaker, frequently illustrating his practical answers with fun anecdotes from his many years of experience.

Soon after founding Edge Studio as a music-recording facility in 1988, David added spoken voice recording to its repertoire. In response to many clients asking him for voiceover guidance, David wrote the first edition of the "Voice-over Technique Guidebook" in 1992.

Since 2000, Edge Studio has focused exclusively on spoken voice, and is now one of the world's premiere voiceover production, casting, and training facilities.

Clients and agents rely on David's ability to pinpoint the right voice actor for their production. Voice actors rely on his ability to help them find their full potential, benefiting from his perception, straight-forwardness, production savvy, and those acute ears.

People and companies that David has worked with at Edge Studio include: Nickelodeon, Disney, Pixar, DaimlerChrysler, The US Postal Service, Scholastic, IBM, The United Nations, countless radio stations, National Public Radio, ESPN, Discovery, Mel Brooks, Joan Rivers, Eartha Kitt, Tom Brokaw, John Ratzenberger, Denise Austin, Mark Linn-Baker, and scores of leading Broadway and TV performers.

Name of Person

Through the Victorian era, portrait miniatures were popular as both fine art and portable mementos.

This exquisite genre is enjoying a deserved resurgence today, as traditional techniques are combined with contemporary style and expression.

[Name of Person’s] achievements are a leading example. Her expressive miniatures have been acclaimed worldwide. Praised also for her work in larger formats, she prefers the intimate scale of the portrait miniature.

TRUE MUSEUM QUALITY

Ms. [Person’s] paintings appear in some of the world’s most prestigious museums, institutional collections and private collections.

Her painstaking devotion shows in flawless technique and an intelligent approach to her subjects. Her style is unsentimental and very American in its precision. Yet, Ms. [Person] sees the subject less in terms of technique than exposition.

A DISTINCTIVE VISION

“It’s my own brand of ‘extreme realism,’” she says. “Whether I am painting a person or animal, my intent is to reveal my subject’s inner emotional life.”

Her work is also of heirloom quality. Created to endure both physically and as an artistic expression, a [Person] miniature may be expected to appreciate in value, and is certain to pass proudly from generation to generation.

Who is [Name of Person], and
how does he know all this?

I've been where you are now. And I not only survived, I succeeded.

Several times.

I've spent three decades in the trenches of small and medium-size business competition. At one point, it finally dawned on me: There's a pattern here.

Let me show it to you.

My businesses ranged from distribution to manufacturing, from start-up to acquisition. Each was faced, however briefly, with business failure, bankruptcy, almost overwhelming credit problems. Two were miserable failures, two were moderate successes and two were sold to major corporations.

As an entrepreneur you know, the important thing is to learn from your failures and succeed more times than you fail.

That's what I did, and by my mid-fifties I even retired for short time. But I wasn't happy on the golf course.

My passion is business, and now that means helping other small to mid-size business owners and entreprenuers succeed. For the past few years, I've returned to work as a turnaround consultant, helping companies solve their problems, avoid bankruptcy and get back on the road to profitability as quickly as possible.

Most companies can't afford to pay $300-400 an hour for my advice, or that of any other seasoned turnaround specialist, so I created this website.

...Although, if your annual revenues exceed $5,000,000, I'll be happy to meet with you.
