Radio advertising and voice acting My first love. It's not my only love, but it's where I got started -- as a copywriter and producer of radio commercials. Lately I've focused again in this field as a trained, experienced voice actor, and writing authority-building articles on related topics (some rather loosely related) such as telephone messaging, hearing physiology, cognition, acting technique, audio recording technology and much more.

Four humorous co-op radio scripts for carpet retailers.

What's better than a great subject line? A great subject. Sometimes it just takes a little imagination. This email's open rate was 48% above the norm.

Three fun ads that grew naturally out of mailers I wrote for a business jet. The mailers pulled a 40% response.

Series of 4 mailers for a business jet -- pulled a 40% response from executive prospects.

My Voice Acting & Narration audio demo. Many people moonlight as freelance copywriters. I'm already a freelance copywriter, so I moonlight as voice-over talent -- a voice actor and narrator. Click for demos of my work – humor and serious. It's a return to the broadcast advertising production business that got me into mainstream advertising. More recently, I've been extensively trained at Edge Studio and elsewhere. I'll be happy to audition for you. Let's talk at 718-577-0005.

Stories. It's what we call hard news. And what we call total fiction. A story is what you make it. Sometimes they're even better if made on the fly.

If your Instagram presence is just a bunch of images, you're missing an opportunity to persuade. Click for my further thoughts on that, and a look at my Instagram approach.

"How Ads Are Born": Several tutorials on conceptual development. Written long, long ago, they still show the thought process a copywriter goes through. A thoughtful copywriter, anyway.

In my social media posts, I try to be either informative, entertaining or helpful. Here's a post that other people found helpful.

If your interest in humor runs more to the academic, here's a three-part article I wrote on what makes something funny. This article explores the art and psychology of humor and comedic delivery. I've written hundreds of TV, video and radio scripts, some long, some short. I've also voiced and acted in them. Often it has involved inventing and/or developing characters and dialog. Here's a touching story excerpt, with performance tips. To see related work, search again, for "scriptwriting" or "editorial" or whatever. Or to learn more about my storytelling and acting experience, please write me or call 718-577-0005 during business hours.

For many years, I wrote original 15-second scripts for a script-reading contest at EdgeStudio.com. The contest spans all voice-over genres, so the scripts varied among narration, commercials, phone messaging, and so on. Some were funny. My scripts are the ones between 2014 and August 2019. For examples, please contact me, describing your particular interest.

I frequently entered New Yorker magazine's cartoon caption contest. One of my captions, entered in the name of a friend, was chosen as a finalist, except it was credited to yet another person who I presume submitted it earlier. Here are some of my cartoon captions.

Here are two script analyses aimed specifically at voice actors, a sort of "coaching session" in print. It's one of hundreds I've written of this type, in an editorial voice, regarding scripts that I wrote, too. To see more editorial content, go to Articles.
